Los Angeles

We are seeking a part-time Speech and Debate coach for the 21-22 school year. Responsibilities include running practices during the school day and/or after school. For the Upper School team, the coach will travel on weekends to local league tournaments, recruit judges for tournaments, chaperone and coordinate team travel to attend select Invitationals throughout the year, and conduct outreach and workshops for budding Middle School debaters.

Archer prioritizes the educational aspects of debate: research, social awareness, argumentation, rhetoric, sportsmanship, and ethics. Students are expected to write their own cases and to work in and outside of practice to prepare for each debate. Interested candidates should have knowledge and experience in all categories of Speech and Debate.

Integral to its mission, Archer has remained passionately committed to cultivating a diverse and inclusive community where all students can thrive personally and academically. Since our mission drives our practice, interested candidates should embody our guiding principles:

  • The Archer School for Girls empowers young women to discover their passions and realize their true potential in an environment that is both ambitious and joyful.
  • We sustain a collaborative, student-centered teaching and learning community that explores and contributes to the research on how girls learn and thrive.
  • We engage girls in a purposeful, inquiry-driven curriculum that fosters critical thinking and life-long intellectual curiosity.
  • We inspire girls to become confident, ethical leaders, strengthening their voices and capacity to contribute positively to their communities.
  • We promote challenge-seeking, encourage creative risk-taking, and embrace each girl’s unique possibility.
  • We support girls to develop meaningful relationships in a diverse and inclusive community rooted in empathy, integrity, and responsibility.
  • We graduate courageous, resilient young women who take responsibility for their own physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
