STEM professionals are uniquely positioned to utilize their real-world expertise to deliver an authentic and relevant education to the students who can benefit most. The EnCorps STEM Teachers Program recruits, prepares and supports career-changing and retiring STEM professionals, as an innovative, long-term solution to the shortage of high quality, impactful educators for under-resourced students in high need communities.

Position Summary:
Reporting to and in partnership with the National Recruitment Director, the Teaching Fellowship Recruiter (referred to as Recruiter) will provide essential support to EnCorps’ mission to support and mentor the best and brightest science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) professionals, as an innovative, long-term solution to the shortage of high quality, impactful educators for underrepresented students in high needs communities.

Enduring STEM achievement, access, and literacy gaps disproportionately limit low income, under-resourced, and minority student opportunities. STEM professionals, when thoroughly prepared, are uniquely positioned to meaningfully utilize their talent and real-world expertise as EnCorps STEM Teachers to deliver an authentic, rigorous, and relevant STEM education to students who need it most.

The Recruiter is a full time (40 hours/week) position ideally located in the Los Angeles or San Diego area. The Recruiter will own outreach and the entire candidate process for the STEM Teaching Fellowship for Greater Los Angeles and San Diego. They will work alongside two additional Recruiters and report to the National Recruitment Director.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive and implement all recruiting activities in Southern California, including online and in person strategies.
  • Manage online posting for Southern California.
  • Deliver recruitment webinars and presentations.
  • Identify, contact, and network with relevant local and regional professional associations, businesses, workforce development services, graduate programs, and other recruitment partners.
  • Represent EnCorps at local and regional conferences, job fairs, and other recruitment-related events. When appropriate, conduct in-person presentations to audiences who may be interested in learning about EnCorps.
  • Schedule and lead interview days, including training new interviewers.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for all applicant and candidate questions in Southern California. Handle all candidate communication and follow-up.
  • Ensure that high-quality messages are delivered across the different channels of phone, e-mail, and in-person.
  • Collaborate with the recruitment team to revise and improve the organization’s recruitment strategy.
  • Collaborate with the recruitment and communications teams to ensure that organizational messaging is high quality, consistent, and effective at attracting and retaining qualified candidates to EnCorps.
  • Meticulously maintain accurate data on applicant recruitment and candidate matriculation.
  • Serve as an advocate and ambassador for EnCorps.

  • Collaborate within and across departments to create and support a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, teamwork and empowerment;
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external constituents;
  • Ensure timely communication with teaching fellows, staff, and partners;
  • Maintain current knowledge of all EnCorps Teaching Fellows programming;
  • Represent a positive and professional image of EnCorps; 
  • Understand and comply with policies and practices outlined in EnCorps Staff Handbook.

 

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of prior recruitment, sales and marketing or teaching experience;
  • Excellent communication and writing skills;

  • The ability to learn quickly, take initiative, work in a fast paced environment and multi-task effectively;
  • Ability to consistently display a high level of professionalism in all interactions;

  • Ability to analyze data and be able to identify and report trends and patterns to inform future recruiting;
  • Willingness to engage in regional travel within Southern California (30%) and within California (10%), reliable transportation required;
  • Excellent skills working with computers, including a strong working knowledge of Salesforce, the Microsoft Office suite, Google Suite, and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram);
  • A willingness to work non-standard hours and/or occasional evenings;
  • An unwavering commitment to educational equity;
  • A burning desire to address the teacher shortage crisis;
  • A passion for STEM.

 

Because EnCorps does not have a physical office, the Recruiter will need to be comfortable working remotely. This position requires some travel within Southern California in order to participate in team meetings, career fairs and networking events. Some non-traditional working hours of evenings and weekends are also required.
