The Karsh Center, established in 2016, is a co-located social service center offering integrated services to address hunger, health, legal and mental health services for individuals and families. Centralizing these services and providers at the Karsh Center enables Wilshire Boulevard Temple to offer unparalleled volunteer opportunities to engage Temple members in meaningful work while nurturing a deep and significant connection between the congregation and its neighbors.

The Karsh Family Social Service Center is looking for a full-time Executive Assistant to join our Karsh Center Team. An outstanding candidate for the position will have at least three years previous office experience, a pleasant demeanor with an outgoing personality and is interested in working with a diverse community of people. The ideal person will be highly organized, punctual, flexible, reliable, detail oriented, responsible, a team player, and takes initiative. This position will provide executive level administrative and programmatic support to the Executive Director of the Karsh Center and staff.

In this role you will provide support to a team of staff representing 4 departments: Administration, Operations and Programming, Volunteer Engagement, Development. This is a fast paced environment with daily changing needs and an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team and impactful organization.


Administrative and Board Support:

  • Support the Executive Director with all Karsh Board needs and activities such as phone calls, scheduling meetings, preparing board materials, managing calendar, booking conference rooms, ordering refreshments and taking minutes of meetings
  • Support the Committees of the Board of Trustees
  • Support Executive Director in all aspects of preparing for and organizing of meetings
  • Support with budgets, monthly expense reports, liaison with fiance staff
  • Must be flexible to work late or overtime hours as needed (advance notice will be provided)
  • Maintain highly organized system of our shared Google Drive and file keeping system
  • Track and code invoices
  • Actively maintain an online project management system called MONDAY.COM
  • Help with ordering of office supplies, interfacing with vendors and monitoring inventory of needed program supplies
  • Actively participate in bi-monthly staff meetings offering feedback, concerns and update on administrative activities


Operations and Program Support:

  • Apply holistic approach to clients and their needs when interacting with clients and community ●
  • Act as support to the Karsh Collaborators
  • Prepare materials, folders/ binders, name tags, sign-in sheets, maintain RSVP list for all workshops, presentations and/or meetings
  • Maintain the Karsh Center master calendar
  • Input client level data and prepare monthly reports
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly newsletters
  • Update and maintain Karsh Center website back office
  • Maintain Karsh Center social media platforms


Development Support:

  • Maintaining donor information on donor database Raiser’s Edge
  • Interface with Grant Writer Consultant
  • Support Executive Director and Development staff in fundraising administrative tasks as needed, including managing acknowledgement process and formatting/editing/printing of letters, managing grants calendar, scheduling appointments, and other tasks as assigned


Volunteer Engagement Support:

  • Input data on client and volunteer software systems capturing volunteer involvement, client information and collaborative agency data, help to generate monthly reports
  • Interact with Wilshire Boulevard Temple congregant and community volunteers supporting and guiding them in their volunteer experience.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, communications, marketing or related field required
  • 3-5 years of administrative experience within a non-profit social service center, development or volunteer related services
  • Excellent computer skills (i.e Microsoft Office, Excel, able to navigate the internet for research and data entry)
  • Excellent communication skills oral and written
  • Experience with excel, budgets and expense reports
  • Experience and proficiency in WordPress or other website back office systems
  • Experience and proficiency with social media tools, Twitter; Facebook; Instagram
  • Ability to work in a fast paced multi-cultural and fast-paced environment with a variety of different people, including staff, Temple Clergy, Wilshire Boulevard Temple staff, volunteers and clients
  • Comfort working with individuals in need and populations with limited linguistic and literacy abilities
  • Maintains confidentiality in matters of agency operations, personnel, and clients
  • Maintains positive communications with all agency staff, clients and visitors
  • Exercises good judgement in performance of duties and responsibilities
  • Supports existing agency policies, principles and mission
  • Familiar working in a social service agency or equivalent
  • Professional demeanor and work ethic
  • Flexibility to work evenings or weekends if needed (with advanced notice)
  • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to be flexible, manage and handle multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Holds a valid California Driver’s license
  • Other related duties as assigned
