Description

Nefesh (501c3) is seeking a dedicated part time Director of Development to join our team to lead fundraising strategy and execution. Nefesh is newly independent, filled with energy and enthusiasm, and needing someone with a keen sense of development strategy to harness this exciting growth and direct it towards a successful fundraising strategy. Nefesh is just finishing our second fiscal year and we have successfully met our budget for both years. Staff, Board and community members are ready and willing to participate in funding efforts.

The Director of Development will create and implement a development plan that details how the organization solicits donors and identifies funding sources such as donors, grants, in-kind donations, and marketing opportunities. If you have a track record of success with development strategies that include cultivation, solicitation and stewardship, excellent administrative and organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail and are passionate about what Nefesh does, we look forward to hearing from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Create a major gifts strategy including identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major donors
  • Oversee all aspects of donor development including major gifts, foundations and corporate giving
  • Responsible for donor and prospect research to support setting levels for initial and follow up asks
  • Bring new development opportunities to Nefesh including individuals and foundations Implement improved/efficient systems, policies and materials for all communications and development efforts
  • Oversee all aspects of annual fundraising campaigns including tracking donations and board member assignments, donor follow-up, assigning thank you calls, producing acknowledgment materials
  • Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems (We use Kindful) Maintain gift recognition programs
  • Coordinate fundraising special eventsAttend board meetings and give a development report
  • Support Board Members that are working on fundraising committees with tracking, scheduling, and other needs as they arise
  • Setting the table for best and highest use of Rabbi to cultivate prospects and donors Manage an ask calendar

 

Qualifications:

  • 5 years minimum experience in professional fundraising
  • Prior experience in the arts, nonprofits, Jewish organizations and/or fundraising environment preferred
  • Proven success in cultivating and securing major gifts Enjoys building external relationships
  • Strong interpersonal and writing skills
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail and accuracy Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals
  • Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and an excellent listening ability
