Description

The Youth Mentoring Connection (YMC) Grants Manager will be responsible for all aspects of foundation and government grants development, proposal writing, and contract management including researching new funding sources; program design; preparing and submitting applications; budgeting; tracking tasks and deadlines; reporting outcomes. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable success in writing, securing, and administering all types of grant proposals; project management experience; ability to create and maintain relationships with stakeholders. Candidates interested in growing into an expanded role including the full range of YMC funding streams, events, outreach and marketing are encouraged to apply as well. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Knowledge of: Grant writing principles and practices; standard office procedures; basic accounting procedures; principles and practices of program/project design and development; applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations; use of computers and basic software systems including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Ability to: 

  • Write compelling and effective grant proposals, reports, and correspondence using Standard Written English (SWE); 
  • Familiarity with standard grants databases to conduct research for new public and private grants prospects; 
  • Develop and implement effective systems; create and deliver sustainability work plans; 
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally with people at all levels of the organization, stakeholders, and community; 
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with clients, co-workers, agency leadership staff, partner agencies, stakeholders, and elected/appointed officials; 
  • Comprehend and comply with governmental rules, regulations and requirements; 
  • Manage implementation and audit of grant objectives so that YMC and its subcontractors remain in compliance with grant requirements to maximize renewal opportunities 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Three years or more experience in writing successful proposals for government grants and private foundation grants as well as conducting research for new funding prospects 
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with potential partners, grant officers, board of directors, and other stakeholders. 
  • Ideal candidate will have two or more years of administrative/project management experience 
  • Graduation from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Offers of employment are contingent upon proof of a valid California Driver’s License and State automobile insurance; acceptable driving record substantiated by a DMV printout; completion of a substance abuse screening; fingerprint background check.
