Los Angeles

The Alliance for Community Transit (ACT-LA) is a LA County-wide coalition of 41 organizations working at the forefront of racial, environmental, and economic justice. Our coalition members include tenants’ rights and community development organizations, workers’ centers, transit advocates, public interest law firms, environmental justice groups and public health advocates, among others. Thanks to our coalition’s diversity, we view housing and transportation issues through an intersectional lens. Our mission as a coalition is to uplift communities—through affordable housing opportunities, good jobs and access to high quality public transit—as the Southland transforms into a more sustainable region. Given our commitment to equity, we believe that low-income communities and communities of color must be centered in decisions that seek to transform our communities.

The Communications Manager would join a small staff team and take the lead in managing our coalition’s internal and external communications.

A successful Manager has strong leadership and project management abilities, an abundance of creativity and a history of working deeply with community groups and residents on storytelling and strategic communications.

The Manager would join the team during an intense period, as our coalition is leading advocacy around solutions to the housing crisis while also leading grassroots organizing efforts related to transit justice in LA County. The ability to multitask and lead diverse groups in prioritizing and executing campaign and other organizing and advocacy plans is a critical component to success.
