Venice Arts ignites, expands, and transforms the lives of Los Angeles’ low-income youth through photography and film education, and uses our participatory storytelling practice to amplify the voices of underrepresented communities around the world.
Venice Arts seeks a photography teaching artist to lead a small, in-person, socially distanced workshop with strict Covid safety protocols in Spring 2021.
The ideal candidate is a graduate of a photography program with experience in documentary, photojournalism, and/or street photography preferred.The candidate should have at least two years experience teaching photography to young people (middle school strongly preferred); experience teaching at the beginning to intermediate levels, a strong positive. Must be proficient at building a syllabus with sequenced lesson plans and demonstrate an interactive, experiential, and project-based approach. The candidate should have knowledge of historic and contemporary photographers and photographic practices. An understanding of the educational equity needs of low-income youth a plus, as is being bilingual (Spanish/English).
Must be available Saturdays from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm, February 6– May 1, 2021.
