Description

The Institute for Educational Advancement (“IEA”) is seeking a part-time Bookkeeper who will work with the president, executive team, and program staff to support the delivery of quality supplemental programs for gifted elementary, middle and high school students.

The ideal candidate is ambitious, detail-oriented, has excellent communication skills, is experienced with problem solving in a work environment, and is able to focus on the big picture. He or she is a team player who can work autonomously, is interested in supporting gifted students and is committed to the long-term success of IEA's program goals and constituents.  This individual is responsible for conducting such activities in accordance with state and federal policies and regulations, consistent with the highest ethical standards.

Essential Functions:
Record financial transactions in QuickBooks and constituent database
Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends using QuickBooks and Excel 
Generate and deliver account receivable invoices to clients and process incoming payments
Verify accounts payable is current, bills are paid in a timely manner, invoices are accurate and have appropriate approvals for payment
Collate bank statements and supporting documentation for monthly reconciliation
Support year-end financial audits
Record-keeping and data entry 
Maintain organized filing system for all financial systems and contracts
Communicate clearly with management, constituents and vendors as needed, via telephone, email and/or printed correspondence
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree 
Minimum of three years' office accounting experience, including QuickBooks – Desktop proficiency
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; able to interface with IEA stakeholders including parents, vendors, and all levels of management 
Able to appropriately and effectively prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks in a timely manner
Organized, keen attention to detail, tenacity for finding solutions
Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal supervision
Proficiency in Window, MS Office, Adobe, and the ability to learn additional software
A general understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is preferred, but not required
