The Lost Angels Children’s Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to empowering low income and homeless youth and transition age youth in the Antelope Valley through innovative industrial arts afterschool and vocational training programs and social enterprises. We strive to engage students and young adults in activities that teach marketable skills including classic car restoration, welding, fabrication, manufacturing, forklift certification, good manners, team work and accountability. We ensure that our students have a working vehicle, a valid driver’s license, a high school diploma or G.E.D., and auto insurance. Finally, we help them build their resume, give them actual paid, on the job experience, and then assist them in applying for and obtaining living wage employment.

Position Overview
The Marketing, Social Media & Art Director will drive community growth, engagement, loyalty and donations by leveraging the strength of the Lost Angels Children’s Project and Good Life Manufacturing (a registered DBA) brands across all online and offline platforms. Create and execute marketing initiatives that drive awareness and loyalty of the LACP and GLM portfolio of brands. Create compelling photography, videos and copy, manage and develop LACP’s online presence.  

Actively engage in the mission and vision of the organization. Work well with a wide population of people ranging from clients and outside agencies to donors and staff. 

Must be able to work independently, often with little direction. Must be able to create and implement social media and marketing strategic plans that make sense and have achievable, measurable goals. Should be able to find and hire and develop artwork for new t-shirt and apparel designs. Must be able to create engaging video and photo content for website and social media.
 

Key Responsibilities
Marketing - 60% 

  • Execute on development fundraising campaigns that drive entry-level giving (e.g., Giving Tuesday, monthly giving, annual giving, peer-to-peer giving, and specific projects)
  • Lead creative efforts related to supporting LACP’s social enterprises (e.g. Good Life Manufacturing, Good Life Apparel T-Shirt Silk-screening inside and outside merchandise sales) Ranging from creating graphics and copy for apparel and online promotions to designing brochures and product catalogues.
  • Serve as project manager in the production of marketing collateral. Working directly with print vendors and creative agencies to develop projects.
  • Create marketing collateral for annual organization events (e.g. Ventura Nationals Classic Car Giveaway, Haunted House, Friday Night Get Downs, Christmas Party, etc.)

 

Digital Marketing - 40%

  • Work to refine and execute digital marketing strategy 
  • Serve as primary community manager for LACP on all social media platforms (primarily Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Newsletter and Website Blog). Core responsibilities include answering all inbound queries, proactively engaging with supporters within organizational guidelines, and escalating urgent needs for swift organizational response.
  • Manage daily social content editorial calendar; coordinate with internal team and external team members to receive necessary approvals and assets in order to launch.
  • Interview clients and copyright stories that speak authentically and ethically of their journeys toward transformation.
  • Analyze and report on digital marketing campaigns and recommend ways to improve.
  • Monitor online conversations and recommend opportunities to communicate relevant, engaging stories across social channels.

 

Your Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years communications or marketing experience in an agency, corporation or nonprofit
  • Professional experience managing branded social networking channels such as: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube 
  • Basic video editing skills (iMovie or other)
  • Basic photography / photo editing skills
  • Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, In Design, Reader)
  • Strong written communication skills, with excellent grammar and spelling and outstanding attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, independent with the ability to work well within a team
  • Flexible; possessing an entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to wear different "hats" and to meet tight deadlines, often times on short notice
  • Problem solver with a bias for getting things done
  • Team player who looks for opportunities to contribute to overall team success
  • Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and offsite promotions

 

Desired Skills

  • Keen design eye
  • Experience using Mailchimp, Blackbaud, Wordpress, and/or other CMS
  • Computer skills (Mac proficiency required): Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube best practices
  • Personal interest in emerging technology, with demonstrated participation in social media
  • Familiarity with Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics and/or other analytical platforms

Compensation
Salary to be negotiated depending on qualifications and experience (anticipated $25-30/hour)
