The Karsh Family Social Service Center (the “Karsh Center”) at Wilshire Boulevard Temple is in the heart of Los Angeles’s Koreatown neighborhood. The Karsh Center, established in 2016, is a co-located social service center offering integrated services to individuals and families to address myriad of needs, including hunger, legal, and mental and other health issues.

The Karsh Family Social Service Center is looking for a full-time Executive Assistant to join our Karsh Center Team. An outstanding candidate for the position will have at least three years of previous office experience, a pleasant demeanor with an outgoing personality and an interest in working with a diverse community of people. The ideal person will be highly organized, punctual, flexible, reliable, detail oriented, responsible, a team player, and a self-initiator. This position will provide executive level administrative and programmatic support to the Executive Director of the Karsh Center and staff.

In this role you will provide support to staff representing four departments: Administration, Operations and Programming, Volunteer Engagement, and Development, as well as support to various volunteers and collaborating organizations. This is a fast-paced environment with daily changing needs and an exciting opportunity to be part of a dedicated team and an impactful organization.


Administrative and Board Support:

  • Support the Executive Director with all Karsh Center Board of Trustees needs and activities such as making phone calls, scheduling meetings, preparing board materials, managing calendar, and booking conference rooms
  • Support the Executive Director in all aspects of organizing meetings
  • Prepare, process and submit monthly expense reports and invoices
  • Must be flexible to work late or overtime hours as needed (advance notice will be provided)
  • Actively participate in biweekly staff meetings offering feedback, concerns and update on administrative activities
  • Cover the front desk of the Karsh Center as needed
  • Order office supplies and keep an up to date inventory


Operations and Program Support:

  • Prepare materials, folders/ binders, name tags, sign-in sheets, and maintain RSVP lists for workshops, presentations and/or meetings
  • Maintain the Karsh Center master calendar
  • Input client-level data and prepare monthly reports
  • Contribute to weekly and monthly newsletters
  • Update and maintain the Karsh Center website
  • Maintain the Karsh Center social media platforms


Development Support:

  • Support efforts in fundraising administrative tasks as needed, including managing acknowledgement letter process, formatting/editing/printing of acknowledgement letters, scheduling appointments, and other tasks as assigned


Volunteer Engagement Support:

  • Input data on client and volunteer software systems capturing volunteer involvement, client information and collaborative agency data, help to generate monthly reports
  • Interact with Wilshire Boulevard Temple congregant and community volunteers, supporting and guiding them in their volunteer experience



  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, communications, marketing or related field or significant experience in the social service sector required
  • Bilingual English/Korean or English/Spanish preferred
  • 3-5 years of administrative experience within social service, development or volunteer related services
  • Excellent computer skills (i.e Microsoft Office, Excel, able to navigate the internet for research and data entry)
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Experience working with a Board of Trustees
  • Experience with budgets and expense reports
  • Experience and proficiency in WordPress or other website back office systems
  • Experience and proficiency with social media tools, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural and fast-paced environment with a variety of different people, including staff, Wilshire Boulevard Temple clergy and staff, volunteers and clients
  • Comfort working with individuals in need and populations with limited linguistic and literacy abilities
  • Maintain confidentiality in matters of agency operations, personnel, and clients
  • Maintain positive communications with all agency staff, clients and visitors
  • Exercise good judgement in performance of duties and responsibilities
  • Support existing agency policies, principles and mission
  • Professional demeanor and work ethic
  • Excellent time management, planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to be flexible, and manage well multiple deadlines and priorities
  • Hold a valid California Driver’s license
  • Be able to handle other related duties as assigned
