Description

L.A. Works is looking for a talented, ambitious, and enterprising communicator with a passion for civic engagement. This individual should have a demonstrated ability to create a strategic communications plan and then execute that plan by writing, producing, and managing various types of content.

When the COVID-19 crisis hit in early March, the L.A. Works team was quick to pivot to address critical nonprofit needs as well as create new, virtual ways forå volunteers to serve the community and reduce social isolation. Calls for action have grown louder as Angelenos are feeling empowered to make change to address racism and social inequities. This new reality has only amplified our need to communicate more efficiently and effectively with our stakeholders and the broader LA community. The results produced by a successful candidate will help us raise our profile, strengthen our existing relationships, recruit new volunteers, and cultivate new donors.

This role requires a people-oriented person with a genuine ability to identify stories and tell them effectively through newsletters, social media, our website, emails, and earned media. This role also requires a high level of creativity, independent thinking, attention to detail, journalistic or creative writing, and project management skills.
