In March 2020, colleges and universities around the country began to close due to COVID-19, and thousands of students suddenly found themselves in financial, academic, and personal crisis. In response, Rise launched a one-on-one case management service to help students apply for emergency financial assistance, find local support, navigate public benefits, and get timely information on policies, programs, and services. To date, we have helped over 2,000 students.
In order to expand our services, Rise is now hiring students to serve as Student Navigators. Navigators will respond to students impacted by the COVID crisis via personal email, group “office hours,” webinars, and individual consultation. Navigators will work 20 hours per week over the Summer and Fall semesters and earn $15 per hour. Schedules will be arranged to accommodate classes and other responsibilities but will include a minimum of four-hour blocks of time as well as some weekend work. All work will be conducted remotely until it is safe to resume on-campus activities.
Applicants should be excellent communicators, and have experience doing one or more of the following:
1. Working with student groups or organizations, on or off-campus
2. Peer, or other, advising or counseling
3. Leading workshops or groups, or teaching
4. Providing case management services
Navigators will receive ongoing virtual training and supervision by the Director of Case Management. We encourage students of all backgrounds and abilities to apply ASAP.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so please apply as soon as possible. Please direct any questions or concerns to [email protected]
