LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes serves the public by providing educational experiences through public programming and exhibitions that celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Mexicans, Mexican Americans and all Latinos in Southern California. LA Plaza opened to the public in 2011 in two renovated buildings located in the downtown Los Angeles historic core. Established by the County of Los Angeles, LA Plaza operates as a non-profit organization governed by a board of directors and is partially funded through the County’s cultural arts program. General Scope of Work
LA Plaza seeks a dynamic, and creative curator to provide leadership and vision within its mission. Working with the curatorial team, the curator will conceive, implement, and oversee ambitious exhibition programs for permanent and temporary exhibitions, ranging from pre-Columbian to contemporary issues; with a focus on local and untold histories. Regular duties will include researching and proposing new exhibitions, maintaining permanent exhibitions and gallery spaces, conducting research for temporary and permanent exhibitions, securing object loans for temporary and permanent exhibitions, transporting and condition reporting objects, working with curatorial staff, designers, and vendors on exhibition development and installation, conducting tours, and coordinating with education, programming, development, and
marketing staff as needed. The position interacts with all staff members in creating coordinated, comprehensive programming that drives museum attendance. Curator will report directly to the Senior Curator, Exhibitions.

$50,000 - $60,000 salary range
