About LA2050 and the Goldhirsh Foundation

Our mission at the Goldhirsh Foundation is to identify the brightest emerging talent and plug them into the tools to best support their success. We fund social innovation efforts across these three areas: opportunity, sustainability, and activation and awareness, with a particular focus on Los Angeles. The largest initiative of the Goldhirsh Foundation is LA2050, which is driving and tracking progress toward a shared vision for the future of Los Angeles. LA2050 seeks to engage and activate Angelenos to shape the future of the region and make LA the best place to learn, create, play, connect, and live by the year 2050. 

To help achieve our mission, we would like to add a paid digital content intern to our team for the spring semester. We’re looking for someone who loves creating engaging content, is driven, dynamic, creative, passionate about all things Los Angeles, and can dedicate 15-30 hours over at least two days per week to working with us. The internship is a minimum 3-month commitment (longer is preferred), beginning in January 2020, with the opportunity to extend. 

The intern will:
Create visual assets for the Goldhirsh Foundation and LA2050 website, newsletter, and social media accounts 
Collaborate with team to support LA2050 campaigns with design solutions, including opportunity assist in the creation and execution of the 2020 My LA2050 Grants Challenge campaign from start to finish
Curate, create, and schedule content for social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
Research and apply best practices and emerging trends + innovations in digital content to help grow the social networks for each of the brands
Design and execute experiments with digital content 
Craft and create logos, media assets, and brand refreshes for nonprofit and impact partners of the Goldhirsh Foundation
Assist with additional design tasks, as needed 

We're looking for the following experience, attributes and style: 
Understanding of the Goldhirsh Foundation and LA2050 brand and vision, along with a passion for Los Angeles  
A student currently enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited university or community college 
An organized individual who is able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and calmly 
Humility and grace to work effectively with others in a collaborative workplace on tasks large and small 
Ability to take initiative and produce self-directed work 
Proficiency and speed in completing tasks and a high sense of urgency 
Positive energy and sense of humor 
An interest in social innovation, philanthropy, and how the two relate to Los Angeles 
Experience working with brands to visually communicate and bring their vision to life 
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator 
Comfort with basic social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) 
Resourcefulness and strong research capability
Interest in applying media + analytics to support shaping the future of Los Angeles
