Lipstick Angels provides a clean-beauty and wellness program that restores dignity, hope, and self-esteem to cancer patients by offering personalized, oncology-sensitive beauty and skin care services in hospitals at patients' bedsides. Lipstick Angels programs allow hospitals to offer a holistic experience to their patients by addressing some of the physical and emotional struggles that arise on their cancer journey. Lipstick Angels works within hospitals by offering patients and their caregivers the opportunity to experience a variety of spa services as well as the equally important opportunity for intimate connection, attention, and distraction from debilitating treatments.
Lipstick Angels is a quickly-growing, national 501(c)(3) organization, currently active in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, and the San Francisco Bay Area. Lipstick Angels headquarters is located in Los Angeles, CA in a professional home-office setting with a start-up atmosphere. The Director of Operations position will work out of this Los Angeles (Mid-City) location.
The Board and Executive Director are looking to hire a spirited Operations Director who is a mission-focused, seasoned, strategic, and process-minded leader with experience developing and implementing excellence in operational processes.
The Operations Director provides operational and financial management of Lipstick Angels and provides oversight and hands-on management to accounting, HR, and organizational operations and contributes to program development and management. The Operations Director supervises the Operations Coordinator and oversees all outside vendor relations. This position offers a significant opportunity for growth over the next few years. Contribute to the over-all strategic direction of the organization and translate goals into operational plans
Provide a strong day-to-day leadership presence for all staff; bridge national and regional operations and support an open-door policy among staff
Work closely with Executive Director to grow and improve fundraising through research, grant writing and reporting, corporate sponsorships, and individual donations
Manage Lipstick Angels’ overall budget, cash flow and finances; develop and coordinate the budget process in coordination with the ED and Board Treasurer
Oversee and work closely with bookkeeping vendor
Maintain donor management system (Kindful)
Lead annual tax filings and audits in coordination with accounting firm
Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; create and update financial policies and procedure manual
Manage payroll, new employee on-boarding, compensation and benefits management
Maintain legal compliance with all state and municipal laws in regard to business registration, charitable registration, employment law, and workers' compensation
Manage human resource initiatives, including recruitment and promotions; update employee handbook; facilitate performance evaluation process; enhance professional development; review compensation and benefits
Negotiate contracts with and manage all external partners including clients, third-party vendors, and consultants
Support Executive Director and Program Director in logistics of program development and implementation
Oversee the data, information, and document sharing systems strategy to ensure all data and information is standardized, up-to-date, and easily accessible across the organization
Maintain relationships and communication with various hospital partners.
Contribute to volunteer recruitment efforts via online postings and social media promotion
Manage product inventory process
Manage and maintain insurance policies
Plan for long range IT, communications, and digital technology
Maintain and update employee intranet
Supervise Operations Coordinator
Manage all vendor relationships and contracts (bookkeeping, accounting, social media management, grant writing, etc.)
Manage client contract drafting, reviewing, and renewal process
Various other duties as assigned by Executive Director and Board members
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field of study. Advanced degree is a plus.
3+ years experience in managing a non-profit enterprise’s human resources, finances, operations or strategies
Proficient operational and financial acumen – in depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles. Experience with Quickbooks Online would be beneficial.
