Position: Action Sports Coach / After School Instructor
Hours: 5-16 hours per week during the academic year; variable hours in summer

We’re looking for coaches with these attributes:
The role of a STOKED Coach is to help build this community of dynamic, resilient, fearless leaders! Coaches lead year-long after school programs 2 days per week during which they work with a cohort of 15 -20 high school students to build a skateboard deck by hand, or create an action-sports-related social impact brand, as well as introduce students to STOKED culture and action sports culture. In addition, Coaches guide students through community development activities, college and career exploration days, skateboard with students after school, and support them academically. The Coach is the face of STOKED at his/her school or site, and therefore must uphold and represent STOKED Core Values, as well as be the liaison with school staff and administration, contacting parents when necessary and ensuring the personal and academic success of each youth participant. Coaches report to the regional Program Manager and will be responsible for reporting both quantitatively and qualitatively as directed. Coaches have the opportunity to work additional hours on weekends supervising skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing events. All training is provided in the skateboard building and art design process.
Teach and coach after-school program twice per week per cohort during the academic year, September through June. Activities include woodworking, deck art design and application using acrylic paints, spray paints, and stencils. Other activities include mentoring discussions, team building activities, leadership training and professional skills. For brand building classes, activities also include the use of Design Thinking principles for team brainstorming activities, online image editing and presentation design
As opportunities are available, teach summer programs for high school students, including: skateboarding, board building, art design and application
Attend and supervise occasional weekend activities for students (surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding or service, minimum 2 Saturdays per season)
Manage cohort of 15-20 students by creating a dynamic learning environment for diverse learners
Behavior management of students when applicable
Attend orientation, staff meetings, and professional development workshops
Regularly communicate with parents and teachers regarding student progress
Complete weekly reports and attendance to be submitted to Program Manager
Communicate as necessary with Program Manager regarding concerns with student progress, health and safety
At least 2 years of experience working with youth
College degree (preferred), some college experience (preferred)
Experience motivating and engaging high school students
Experience in making or teaching art, graphic design, Design Thinking/brand design practices, woodworking, or other media
A participant in action sports (skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing), or action sports culture enthusiast
A leader, professional in demeanor and able to communicate clearly
Reliable, hardworking, kind and dependable
