UNITE-LA, established in 1998, is a nonprofit organization affiliated with the L.A. Chamber as its Center for Education Excellence & Talent Development. UNITE-LA and the Chamber promote improvements in the early education, K-12, higher education, and workforce systems. We provide direct programming as well as strategic and tactical support for development of a superior education system; expansion of college access and success; and provision of workforce development opportunities to foster success for all Angelenos. We collaborate across silos and sectors, spurring uncommon alliances between business, education, government, and community partners on the cradle-to-career continuum. Our work builds education and career pathways for L.A. area children and youth and improves opportunities for underserved youth to participate meaningfully in our 21st century economy. We testbed programs, policy, and systems work in Los Angeles and scale up these efforts through our statewide and national leadership.
The Research and Evaluation Coordinator will report to the Vice President of Research and Evaluation of the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. This position requires collaboration with other staff of the L.A. Chamber’s Center for Education Excellence and Talent Development.
The Research and Evaluation (R&E) Coordinator will support the V.P. of R&E with respect to research on, and evaluation of, education and workforce development issues, programs, and policies; convening support for R&E collaborative efforts; and administrative work in support of R&E.
This is a full-time (40 hours/week), hourly, non-exempt position with full benefits, including Vacation Time; Sick Time; Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance; Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA); Long Term Disability; Life Insurance and 401(k).
Coordinate and support data, evaluation, and research projects and efforts, including
design and execution of surveys, interviews, and focus groups
research on online databases with education and labor force data
data acquisition, organization, entry, and processing/cleaning
quantitative and qualitative data analysis
production of high-quality data visualizations, charts, tables, and spreadsheets
support for third-party evaluations
Support fund development and strategic partnerships, including
research on potential funders and new grant opportunities for R&E
production of high-caliber grant proposals, concept papers, and applications (including project design, workplans, and budgets)
production of high-caliber funder reports
cultivation and stewardship of strategic partnerships
Support select L.A. Compact workgroups by staffing meetings, coordinating events, and developing relationships with partners
Maintain budgets, electronic files, and file system
Handle administrative duties as needed
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Completed Bachelor’s degree.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in research and evaluation relevant to education and/or workforce
Experience with database management and data analysis, including
Experience with Excel mathematical functions, spreadsheets, charts, and tables
Experience creating publication-ready figures and tables
Experience writing research memos and contributing to reports
Ability to present complex information in an understandable and compelling manner
Demonstrated proficiency with Survey Monkey or other survey tools
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and database technologies
Strong analytic and data skills
Strong writing skills
Strong verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
Strong organization skills, including proven ability to handle multiple projects at once, prioritize, and produce high-quality work

Master’s degree in a social science discipline, education, public policy, or other related field.
Minimum 1 year of coursework in research methods, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and/or evaluation
Experience with Tableau software
Experience with Asana software
