Job Summary: The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research seeks a creative, prolific, experienced, energetic, flexible, and collaborative team member to serve as the Communications & Public Relations (C&PR) Manager for the Sustainable LA Grand Challenge (SLA GC). The Sustainable LA Grand Challenge is one of two UCLA Grand Challenges. With this Grand Challenge, the campus has committed to develop a plan for Los Angeles County to transition by 2050 to 100% renewable energy, 100% locally sourced water with enhanced ecosystem health. The campus-wide initiative engages over 200 UCLA researchers in this effort. 

The C&PR Manager will develop an overall public relations and communications plan for the SLA GC, create and curate content to be distributed in accordance with the plan, and execute the plan in a way designed to bring recognition to the SLA GC and UCLA. The manager will create most of the content for the SLA GC including, but not limited to articles, digital content, pitch letters, web content, press releases, social media feeds, newsletters, and periodic reports. The manager must be able to understand complex scientific and technical content and translate it for a general public audience. The Communications & Public Relations Manager will promote the SLA GC through communications formats that are consistent with established (and continually evolving) UCLA branding and messaging standards. Finally, the C&PR manager will promote UCLA environment and sustainability research beyond the portfolio of the Grand Challenge.
