VISUAL ARTS EDUCATOR:

George Washington Carver Middle School is seeking a dynamic visual arts educator to teach and grow the School’s visual arts program. The Carver MS Arts Program fosters student growth through collaborative sequential, comprehensive, and standards aligned arts education. The candidate is expected to be an active member of the faculty.

The preferred candidate will have a Single Subject Arts Credential and experience teaching visual arts to students of varied learning styles and from diverse populations, possess excellent visual art skills, understand arts education pedagogy and technique as appropriate for students within these grades and abilities. Candidates must have the ability to develop a curriculum that cultivates an appreciation, knowledge and production of visual art for students at all levels of ability and interest.

The person in this position will be responsible for building a classroom/studio culture in which students learn about and create various visual art forms and gain an appreciation for the role of visual art in history and culture. Candidates will design and execute professional-quality arts exhibitions/display opportunities for all students, create culturally relevant lesson plans and work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, parents and administration to create a positive learning environment for our students.
