The Health Services Department offers LGBTQ affirming and competent services to support our patients in creating a space free from stigma and healthcare inequities. The Health Services Department at the LGBTQ Center Long Beach has received funding to provide free, accessible and competent STI screening in the City of Long Beach. Under the supervision of the Medical Director and on-site supervision by the Director of Health Services, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the oversight and management of the screening, examination and treatment protocols for the STI screening and treatment program. The department is seeking a part-time Nurse Practitioner to be part of our dedicated team and improve the services available in Long Beach related to sexual health and STI screening.


 Work with testing team to properly and accurately diagnose STI cases identified by the program
 Monitor exam room supplies, refrigerator temperatures and treatment supply inventory
 Provide monthly updates at department meetings around current cases, protocol matters and patient care


 Maintain and implement the medical and patient care policies, procedures and protocols
 Assist with clinical and patient related matters
 Implement programs to support and meet care management goals
 Facilitate symptomatic or partner notified patient consultations and health history review
 Collect throat, rectal and endcervical samples, prepare urine samples and prepare for lab shipping
 Collect blood sample via venipuncture for syphilis and additional sample for HIV viral load testing, as needed
 Perform physical examinations and screenings of patients related to STI infection
 Order needed medications for treatment and supplies for administering treatment
 Prescribe treatment, discuss drug regimens, possible side-effects or interactions with other substances
 Provide HIV/STI prevention counseling and risk reduction plans for all patients served
 Maintain complete and detailed records of patients’ health care plans and prognoses


 Schedule treatment and follow up appointments with patients
 Update client files with required documentation and cases notes
 Answer and facilitate calls regarding questions, concerns and referrals to external resources


 Minimum 2 years’ experience within sexual health, HIV and/or STI screening and treatment
 Master of Science in Nursing
 Bilingual (Spanish/English); preferred
 Current Nurse Practitioner License and Furnishing Number/License
 HIV Certification Preferred
 Knowledge of PrEP and PEP strongly required
 LGBTQ health care competency required
