Civic Nation is looking to hire a director for an initiative they are launching this year to expand and diversify the creative class by providing awareness, education and access to the next generation of creatives. This initiative will work to engage a Gen Z audience with content-driven strategies that focuses on leveraging culture to drive awareness around the vast number of opportunities that exist in the creative fields. This campaign will launch in 2019.

Civic Nation is a non-profit organization that uses organizing, engagement and public awareness to address some of our nation’s most pressing challenges. We work with public and private partners to build tools and campaigns that turn great ideas into action.

Civic Nation launched in 2015 and is a rapidly growing organization that houses large-scale public awareness and organizing initiatives such as: The United State of Women, #VoteTogether, It’s On Us and the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge.

 

The Role

The initiative director will be the center of this initiative to develop and drive all strategies for the initiative. This person will be the face of the organization, not only to press, but to high level partners and potential donors.

They will work directly in partnership with Civic Nation, 72andSunny, the Creative Alliance and CreativeLive.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has experience managing a team, has excellent written and verbal communication skills, is a self-assured, collaborative, creative-oriented, problem solver and is passionate about diversifying the growing creative class.

 

Responsibilities:

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Build and maintain high-profile relationships with creative industry and foundation executives while continuing to create a steady drum beat of content for youth, all while making a difference in the world.

Development and Fundraising:

  • Develop, manage, and implement a strategic annual fundraising plan and development budget to maximize fundraising efforts.
  • Work closely with the Chief Development Officer to develop annual fundraising pitches and key messages. Create pitches to drive the development of supporting narratives, research, and materials.
  • Own all aspects of grant writing and reporting efforts, including the development of supportive materials.
  • Develop the strategy for asks, and present a fresh, compelling, well supported case for investment in this initiative.

 

Program Management:

  • Design and implement initiative programs.
  • Manage, support, and grow the team.
  • Collaborate with the 72andSunny team and other key stakeholders to develop the initiative’s creative strategy and execution.
  • Collaborate with creative partners and digital staff to create a robust online advocacy strategy.

 

Partnerships:

  • Serve as key point of contact for partnerships with brands, nonprofits, and creative partners.
  • Partner with the Creative Alliance to recruit media, corporate, and celebrity partners to participate in the initiative.
  • Develop unique and strategic integrations to reach target audiences.
  • Work with creative companies to identify opportunities for cross collaboration on sharing best practices for hiring a diverse workforce.

 

Qualifications:

  • You have a passion for organization, problem solving, and diversifying the creative class.
  • You have 6-9 years of experience at an arts, education, or creative organization.
  • You have experience working on large creative campaigns with digital and social media components.
  • You have experience managing a diverse team.
  • You have experience fundraising and working on large scale corporate partnerships.
  • You are scrappy, positive, motivated, and passionate.
  • You have experience working with celebrities, influencers, brands, and media partners.
