The Los Angeles Arboretum Foundation is seeking an individual with experience working in a summer camp setting. The Summer Nature Camp Lead Counselor works to provide a safe environment for the campers and camp counselors. The Assistant Director helps to manage counselors with daily scheduling and programming logistics. This position requires an individual with proven leadership skills and strong communication skills. Must be flexible and have the ability to creatively problem solve. An ability to maintain a positive outlook and to encourage a spirit of cooperation is vital.
Duties will include, but are not limited to: Supervise day to day operations of the summer camp in conjunction with the Camp Director, assist educators in implementing activities, manage and support counselor team in daily activities. Oversee counselors at all times while in the garden to guarantee camp expectations are being met, other duties as assigned to assist Arboretum staff.
Minimum requirements: High school diploma and college degree required. Experience working with children as a leader or assistant leader in a camp setting. The ability to communicate effectively. The desire and ability to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere. A commitment for the term of employment. Lead Counselor must be able to work outside in varying weather conditions.
The position is full time, Monday through Friday, June 3th– August 9th, hourly with 40 hours per week. Hourly wage DOE.
