Five Acres seeks an experienced professional to serve as Director of Human Resources. One of the oldest nonprofits in Los Angeles, for 130 years Five Acres has been committed to strengthening children and families and empowering them within their communities. Five Acres offers a full continuum of care for families in crisis, including community-based mental health and behavioral health services, deaf services, foster care and adoption. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer and supervising a team of four, the Director of Human Resources is responsible for managing and directing all Human Resource functions including employment, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations and services in support of Agency objectives. The Director must be a good problem-solver who is comfortable with the challenges of managing a large team of dedicated professionals and multi-site, 24/7 operations. A minimum of ten years of increasingly responsible human resources management experience is preferred, including four years as a supervisor. Employee relations experience and a working knowledge of all human resources activities and associated state and federal regulations are expected. Current knowledge of California labor laws is strongly preferred. Although experience in a human services or nonprofit institution would be beneficial, it is not required. Bilingual skills in Spanish/English will be highly valued. A Bachelor’s degree is required. SHRM certification is required, California credential strongly preferred.
