Maternal Mental Health NOW is seeking a motivated and energetic fundraising professional passionate about helping Los Angeles’ new and growing families!  Our mission is to remove barriers to the prevention, screening and treatment of prenatal and postpartum depression in Los Angeles County.  Our programs focus on building the capacity of health care providers to screen, refer and treat depression and anxiety during pregnancy and the postpartum period, reducing stigma attached to maternal mental health disorders and increasing access to care for all families through policy and advocacy activities.  As we embark on our next phase of growth, we are seeking an experienced Development Director to raise funds for Maternal Mental Health NOW’s general operations and programmatic activities, bringing our organization to the next level and multiplying our impact. 


●       Create and manage a fundraising calendar for the organization to include special events, campaigns and appeals;

●       Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward new and existing donors to Maternal Mental Health NOW;

●       Oversee writing, design and mailing of at least 2 fundraising appeals per year;

●       Identify and cultivate major giving prospects in partnership with Executive Director;

●       Manage Maternal Mental Health NOW’s donor database (Network for Good), including entering data and running queries and reports for analysis;

●       Appropriately and creatively thank donors for their gifts;

●       Organize all aspects fundraising events (at least 2 per year) including venue selection, contract negotiation, honoree selection, speaking program, auctions, sponsorships, ticket sales, etc.

●       Facilitate volunteer Gala Committee;

●       Redesign and regularly update Maternal Mental Health NOW’s website;

●       Manage and engage with constituents/supporters on Maternal Mental Health NOW’s social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook and Twitter);

●       Solicit articles, write, edit and design monthly Maternal Mental Health NOW email newsletter;

●       Conduct email marketing for Maternal Mental Health Now’s in-person and online trainings;

●       Identify corporate sponsorship prospects and build relationships;

●       Identify foundation funding prospects and build relationships;

●       Edit and submit foundation proposals and reports;

●       Supervise Events Specialist and contract grant writer;

●       Collaborate with the Executive Director and Governing Council’s Finance Committee on income projections;

●       Contribute to strategic and operational planning of the organization;

●       Other duties as assigned.


●       Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Communications, Sociology, Psychology, Business, or related field.

●       Minimum of five years of nonprofit fundraising/resource development experience including database management, annual appeals, special events, major gifts and similar activities.

●       Experience working in a deadline‐driven environment.

●       Ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments within a collaborative team environment.

●       Grant writing experience.

Other Skills/Abilities:

●       Strong written and verbal communication skills.

●       Attention to detail.

●       Knowledge of fundraising best practices.

●       Computer skills in word processing, data base management, spreadsheets and electronic communications (email, listserv, e‐newsletters, etc.).


The Development Director reports to the Executive Director.  S/he will also work closely with the Clinical Director and Director of Policy & Advocacy. 

Work Environment:

Note that this is a 0.75 FTE (30 hours per week) position.  While Maternal Mental Health NOW operates a virtual office, with staff members working from home, in-person meetings across Los Angeles County are essential and required.

$60,000-$65,000 (for 30 hours per week) plus full benefits
