Overview of the Organization

Harlem Lacrosse is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide opportunities, relationships, and experiences that activate the skills and traits to put youth on a path to success as students, athletes, and citizens. We aim to empower the kids who are most vulnerable to academic decline and dropout to rise above their challenges and reach their full potential.

Founded in 2008, Harlem Lacrosse was officially incorporated in 2011 with the idea that what students need to reach their full potential is to be immersed in an activity that they take pride in, led by a caring mentor, tutor and coach who can help them build confidence and skills on the field and in the classroom. Harlem Lacrosse has grown continuously each year since 2012 and now operates 25 programs in Baltimore, Boston, Los Angeles, New York and Philadelphia serving more than 1,000 boys and girls in grades 5-12.

Our unique approach embeds a full-time Program Director within our partner schools to serve as tutors, mentors and coaches to maintain a constant presence in the lives of the students we serve. The proven program model improves the academic performance and life skills of our students with structured activities such as:

  • Push-in academic support throughout the school day
  • Behavioral intervention during the school day
  • Study halls
  • Lacrosse practices and games
  • Travel and other enrichment experiences
  • College trips and exploration
  • Secondary school and college admissions support

Description of the Project and Deliverables

Harlem Lacrosse has recently experienced significant growth and requires some professional support in graphic design services to support the creation and updating of marketing materials. As a result, we seek the following specific services and support:

  • Work with the existing team to identify current needs and develop a defined strategy for reflecting Harlem Lacrosse’s mission and brand through its marketing materials.
  • Develop new design templates to reflect a consistent Harlem Lacrosse presence and brand. This should include both a “one-pager” design as well as a PowerPoint design.
  • Translate existing copy into the new design templates for up to ten (10) one-pagers and one (1) master slide deck. All copy, data and stats will be provided by Harlem Lacrosse.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A proven, results-oriented background in graphic design, brand development and marketing.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with a small, entrepreneurial organization with a diverse client base.
  • Proven ability to reflect the unique culture of an organization within its brand.
