About this organization

TreePeople is an environmental nonprofit organization that mobilizes individuals, families, communities, philanthropists, and public agencies to work together to create green, resilient communities by providing education on the benefits of planting trees, capturing the rainwater, greening schools, and providing fun environmental educational activities. TreePeople unites with communities to grow a greener, shadier and more water-secure region at homes, neighborhoods, schools and in the local mountains.

About this job

TreePeople seeks a full-time, bilingual (Spanish/English), experienced Senior Community Organizer to lead our South and Southeast Los Angeles team of community organizers in a movement toward environmental equity. This position will lead an ambitious outreach and engagement program that addresses climate change issues in historically underserved communities. The Senior Community Organizer will participate in developing and implementing research based, creative, and lasting strategies that will inspire communities to support a functioning urban forest by participating in local volunteer tree planting and care events, and watering newly planted trees on their own.
