TreePeople is seeking individuals interested in green infrastructure to join our team as a Green Infrastructure Coordinator. This position will assist the Director of Green Infrastructure in planning, organizing, and implementing green infrastructure projects in the greater Los Angeles area.
Roles & responsibilities
- Coordinate the implementation of green infrastructure projects in the greater Los Angeles area that include school gardens, tree planting, parks, lawn removal, and green streets.
- Work with TreePeople’s Landscape Architects to develop community-led designs for urban greening projects.
- Develop and maintain partnerships with local community-based organizations, elected officials, school administrators, public agencies, businesses, and other community stakeholders to expand TreePeople’s social and environmental impact.
- Organize and support community engagement activities such as workshops and volunteer events.
- Evaluate future project opportunities through coordination such as attending site visits.
- Conduct reporting, monitoring, and other data tracking to comply with funding reporting and to ensure the successful implementation of greening improvements.
- Participate and represent TreePeople at meetings, fundraising, marketing, membership, and volunteer events.
- Other related duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Highly organized, strong work ethic, friendly, smart, proactive, and a quick learner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills: engaging, listening, negotiating, public speaking, and writing.
- Strong leadership, team-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with project management and community organizing.
- Literate and interested in local climate and water resilience and environmental issues impacting diverse communities throughout Southern California.
- Spanish fluency is highly desired.
- Landscape design, urban design, or construction-related background is highly desired.
- Salesforce database and GIS experience are highly desired.
