SALARY: $71,114 to $100,106

TIME-LIMITED: 12/31/2023 (Extension pending renewed funding over 3-year grant)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Vice President of Israel Advocacy and part of the Community Engagement team, this position is responsible for managing the Campus Impact Network, working with college campus student leaders and campus leadership to instill an understanding of political and civic issues impacting their campuses. The Campus Impact Network is a grant funded program designed to foster civic engagement as a means of improving the campus climate for Jewish and pro-Israel students. This position also participates in Israel advocacy conversations and strategy development for the broader Community Engagement Department.

Roles & responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

• Within the team environment of Community Engagement staff, education professionals, and lay leadership, work with the Vice President of Israel Advocacy to plan the academic year long curriculum for the Campus Impact Network.

• Design and implement innovative programming and content to strengthen the ties to diverse segments of the Jewish campus community while advancing goals to respond to antisemitism and build a just, inclusive society.

• Assist in the planning and execution of events, campaigns, and initiatives that promote Israel on campus.

• Work with campus partners and other Federation departments to connect with and recruit Jewish student leaders on Los Angeles area campuses for the program.

• Develop and maintain relationships with campus leaders including Hillel Staff, Professors, Advisors, Coaches, Administration, etc. on all local campuses as well as with Federation lay leaders and other community leaders throughout our area.

• Develop and implement effective advocacy strategies that promote a positive image of Israel on campus.

• Represent the Federation’s work on campuses and our positioning regarding Israel Advocacy with relevant lay leaders and other Los Angeles community leaders.

• Develop, oversee and coordinate distribution of a micro-grant program for the student campus leaders.

• Train, support and meet regularly with student leaders and campus professionals to help promote, support and assess progress on micro-grants program.

• Monitor and respond to anti-Israel activity on campus and in the community.

• Assist Community Engagement colleagues on Israel related government relations strategies and policies

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

• Be available to supervisor for additional assignments, as required, including other Federation Israel Advocacy initiatives and events, and assisting with the Campaign.

• Coordinate with Hillel leadership to align strategy and collaboration.

• The employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR POSITION

• BA required, Advanced degree in non-profit management, political science or community development/ community organizing, or similar preferred.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and concisely.

• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.

• Knowledge of Israel and the needs of the Jewish community in Los Angeles and abroad required.

• Background in program coordinating and event planning required.

• Ability to travel to various campus and offsite locations for field work.

• Two to four years demonstrable experience in local politics or community organizing required.

• Experience in campus programs, either as a student or professional, strongly preferred.

• A hybrid work model will be implemented for certain positions. This position must report to the worksite on non-remote workdays, as determined by the Federation.
