RAND is seeking a Development Coordinator to support fundraising and advisory board operations. The Development Coordinator will provide administrative and logistical support for advisory board activities, internal business operations, and donor engagement programming. This position will report to the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives and the Sr. Executive Director of Development Operations and work closely with the events and engagement team. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who enjoys working in a varied environment. They must have strong communication, organizational, and administrative skills, an ability to manage competing priorities, and be comfortable interacting with donors.
Roles & responsibilities
This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with an expectation of working onsite in Santa Monica 2 - 3 days per week.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as the primary administrative support to the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives and the Sr. Executive Director of Development Operations; schedule and maintain their calendar of appointments, meetings, and travel itineraries.
- Manage day-to-day financial operations for Development: submitting invoices and agreements, reconciling payments, managing vendor renewals, creating purchase orders.
- Support operations for RAND’s philanthropic advisory boards and serve as RAND’s primary administrative resource to board members.
- Assist in the planning and execution of advisory board meetings and donor events.
Provide donor customer service; respond to general phone call and email inquiries.
- Conduct basic research on donors and prospects, compile bios and internal prep materials for board meetings and events.
- Ongoing donor database upkeep, including ad hoc data hygiene projects.
- Assist with general department operations; execute in-house mailings, manage conference room bookings and catering, maintain office supply inventory.
- Support overall fundraising administrative efforts by understanding needs and managing details that will help ensure success.
- Other special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Skilled in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with cross-site technologies such as Teams and Zoom is a plus.
- Strong time/task/project management and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication.
- Customer service experience is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to work independently and proactively.
- A high level of attention to detail.
- Willingness to handle unexpected and last-minute needs.
- Must be available to work events in the evenings and/or weekends occasionally.
- CRM or database experience preferred; Salesforce experience is a plus.
- Development/Fundraising experience is a plus.
Experience
- 3 – 5 years of relevant experience
(A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience)
Education
- AA/AS required; BA/BS preferred
Salary Range: $57,400-$85,500

This position is overtime eligible. Successful candidates will be offered employment in a specific title, as determined by the candidate's education and experience.
