Promesa is seeking an energetic self-starter Data & Evaluation Analyst who is passionate and committed to social, racial, and educational justice. The Data & Evaluation Analyst is responsible for supporting Promesa’s efforts to strengthen our data systems that will allow us to collect and analyze program-related and multi-partner Collective Impact collaborative data to further our strategic goals. This new position is critical to furthering our data-driven and learning organization at Promesa. The Analyst will support collective impact collaborative and program evaluations and compose and deliver presentations on findings.

As a rapidly growing Collective Impact collaborative, the Analyst position is vital to supporting the collaborative in collecting, analyzing, and sharing performance measurements in our movement.

The Data Analyst will report directly to the Promesa Boyle Heights Managing Director and the Proyecto Pastoral Director of Impact and is also accountable to the Promesa General Assembly, Steering Committee and partner schools, and Proyecto leadership.

Roles & responsibilities

The Data & Evaluation Analyst must be committed to Promesa’s community mission, vision and overarching goals to facilitate the collective success by leading on the following:

● Oversee the collection, analysis, and clear dissemination of data to support Promesa’s collective efforts to improve student and community-level outcomes;

● Support the development of shared measures and a shared measurement system, including related data infrastructure that will track common outcomes and indicators across the collaborative and use results to inform learning and continuous improvement;

● Support with developing and implementing databases (Excel, Access, Airtable), data collection systems, and data analytics

● Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems (CHIS, LACDPH, CDE, LAUSD)

● Clean LAUSD datasets by reviewing data spreadsheets

● Support programs with interpreting reports and making data-informed decisions.

● Support ongoing training for staff on proper data collection methods, monitor grant outcomes and provide updates to the collaborative and PBH Staff

● Prepare reports for grant requirements and outcome data evaluation reports to the Development department and Managing Director.

● Provide technical assistance to Promesa staff, partners, and Solutions Teams around data and evaluation;

● Oversee the sharing of findings across stakeholders to consistently feedback the impact that Promesa is having in Boyle Heights

● Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports

● Build relationships with and facilitate open communication with the Promesa stakeholders which include: Steering Committee, General Assembly, Comité de Líderes (resident leaders), Promesa staff members, and Proyecto Pastoral leadership;

● Other duties and tasks as may be required

Qualifications

This is an outstanding opportunity to play a critical role in supporting the school and community transformation in Boyle Heights. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following experience:

● Bachelor’s degree (required)

● At least 2+ years of research/evaluation experience, preferably outside the classroom.

● Experience with basic quantitative and qualitative research methods, data collection, analysis and reporting.

● Experience analyzing data using statistical analysis software (SPSS, Stata, R).

● Experience managing or working with databases and large data sets.

● Preferred Bilingual in Spanish (oral and written), including the ability to translate and conduct interviews and focus groups in Spanish.

● Detail oriented with effective time management skills.

● Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

● Ability to be an effective team player and to work independently.

● Possess adequate evaluation design and data analysis skills, and utilizes “right-fit” methods for a broad range of quantitative and qualitative approaches;

● Ability to use impact data to communicate a compelling and meaningful story about Promesa’s work;

● Able to synthesize and present complex data in a simple and meaningful way;

● Demonstrated ability to design and modify program logic models, theory of change models, or similar planning documentation;

● Ability to thrive in a fluid, entrepreneurial environment; willingness to “roll up one’s sleeves” and extend beyond formal responsibilities based on the needs of the work.

● Experience leading or participating in a community-based initiative, collaborative, collective impact, or coalition.
