ABOUT THE POSITION
The Partnership is seeking a self-motivated and results-driven Manager of Institutional Giving to provide strategic support in its philanthropic fundraising efforts. The Manager of Institutional Giving will serve as a key member of the organization’s Development Team by conducting grants management, including writing, submission, tracking, and administration. The Manager will also oversee prospect and donor research, and manage logistics for events and meetings related to institutional giving and stewardship. The Manager of Institutional Giving reports directly to the Senior Director of Institutional Giving. This is a full-time, year-round position.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Grant Writing & Management (80%)
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward strategic and mission-aligned grant opportunities
Conduct the grants-management and submission process
Write LOIs, grant proposals and reports, develop grant budgets, and compile supplemental materials such as organizational and school-site data and financial information
Prepare and submit grant agreements in a timely and accurate manner
Conduct donor prospecting through research on mission-aligned foundations and other grant opportunities
Oversee grant agreements, reporting, and documentation, ensuring compliance with individual grant requirements
Implement and monitor grant management tracking and calendar systems to ensure timely and accurate submissions to funders
Oversee the facilitation of grants across teams and functions through project management strategies including regular cross-team communication, meeting facilitation, and the continued implementation, refinement and management of an internal grants-deliverables tracking system
Maintain an organized electronic filing system for all aspects of the grants cycle, including grant application materials, agreements and disbursements, correspondence with funders, and program materials related to grants
Collaborate with the Finance Team to oversee tracking of grant funding and allocation to award budgets
Development Admin (20%)
Oversee Development Team data management, including grant awards, proposals, and contact information of funders, donors, and prospective donors
Generate donor acknowledgement letters and other correspondence, as needed
Maintain internal financial records related to funding and collaborate with the Finance Team on financial reconciliation and the annual audit
Prepare presentations, briefing documents, and other materials for fundraising meetings
Assist with Development and fundraising-related website and newsletter updates
Provide additional support to the Development Team, as needed or assigned
Events & Engagement (10%)
Support for fundraising events, including donor meetings and school visits
Represent the Partnership while engaging with foundations, corporations, and other nonprofits
Assist in planning and communications with fundraising campaigns
POSITION FIRST-YEAR PRIORITIES
A successful first year in this role will look like:
The Manager will successfully identify and qualify at least 10 new mission-aligned grant opportunities. They will also ensure that 100% of grant proposals and reports are submitted on time and align with funder expectations.
Implement and refine a comprehensive grants tracking and calendar system to ensure seamless communication, compliance, and collaboration across the Development, Finance, and Program Teams.
Coordinate and deliver high-quality donor briefs and contribute to donor stewardship opportunities in a timely manner, contributing to a donor retention rate of 60% or higher.
Integrate diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) principles into grant narratives and donor engagement strategies, ensuring all communications reflect the values and mission of the Partnership.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
At least 3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising and development, or related field of work
Previous experience with grant writing, solicitation, management, and reporting is strongly preferred
Experience with data collection and integration into the grant cycle
Proficiency in database management is a plus (The Partnership uses Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge NXT)
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas in an accessible way
Excellent organization and coordination skills with high attention to detail
Strong project management skills are required and experience using project management tools (ex: Asana, Trello, Monday) is preferred
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience is preferred
Adaptable with shifting priorities and competing demands
Ability to work collaboratively across differences in work styles and skill sets
Strong computer and technology skills preferred (the Partnership uses Microsoft Suite, Google Workspace, Raiser’s Edge NXT and other software)
Ability to travel between school sites in South Los Angeles, Boyle Heights, and Watts, as well as the Partnership home office in Downtown Los Angeles
Working understanding of K-12 public education sector is preferred

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The starting salary range for external candidates is $76,606-$82,079. The Partnership’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion extends to our compensation practices. Our goal is to ensure that salaries are fair for all staff members who hold many intersectional identities, and we set salaries based on a robust compensation model grounded in consistency and transparency. The exact salary for this position is set through the Partnership’s compensation policy and is dependent on the candidate’s relevant skills, experiences, and organizational tenure. In support of our vision for pay equity, candidate salaries are determined by a formula and we do not negotiate.
