POSITION OVERVIEW

The Assistant Director of Employment Services, in collaboration with the Senior Director of Employment Services (SDOES), is responsible for providing leadership, vision, and oversight to the Employment Services Department, which is dedicated to supporting individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in their pursuit of meaningful employment opportunities. This role includes primary oversight of multiple offsite offices, including those in Thousand Oaks, Burbank, and potentially Santa Clarita and additional locations.

The Assistant Director will establish and maintain strong relationships with local employers, ensuring that the department meets its goals of job placement and retention for the individuals served. The role also involves providing guidance, inspiration, and supervision to Program Coordinators, the Quality Assurance team, Job Coaches, Job Developers, and all other members of the Employment Services team. In the absence of the Director of Employment Services, the Assistant Director will serve as the department lead, ensuring continuity and leadership within the department.

Roles & responsibilities

Leadership and Oversight

- In collaboration with the Senior Director of Employment Services, leads the Employment Services Department in serving New Horizon’s Members on their pathway to employment.

- Directly manages the day-to-day operation of the Employment Services Program, including Pathways, Supported Employment, and Direct Placement programs for all off-sites, and provides backup support for these functions at the main campus.

- Leads or oversees the leadership for the monthly Job Coach meetings.

- Ensures that the department complies with all policies, procedures, paperwork, and timeline requirements and meets or exceeds all regulatory and funding standards.

- Provides direct oversight for staff to attend and develop IPP meetings, and personally attends some meetings as needed.

- Acts as the department lead in the absence of the Senior Director of Employment Services.

Supervision and Staff Management

- Supervises Program Coordinators, Job Coaches, and other key positions. This includes interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluating performance for these positions.

- Oversees the onboarding mentoring program for new Employment Services hires.

- Available during Member’s working hours (7 days a week) and is accessible to staff and Members as needed.

Budget and Financial Management

- In collaboration with the Senior Director of Employment Services, creates and monitors the yearly budget for this division.

- Assists with Accounts Receivable (A/R) as needed for the Employment Services group of services.

- Monitors monthly financial statements and makes adjustments as needed to meet or exceed budgeted targets.

- Responsible for submitting all billing for the department on a timely and accurate basis.

- Ensures that time sheets for this division are submitted in a timely and accurate manner.

Program Compliance and Quality Assurance

- Responsible for handling the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for offsite locations. Assists with accreditation at the main campus as needed.

- Reviews progress notes to ensure they meet or exceed CARF standards.

- Responsible for submitting all Incident Reports in a timely, accurate fashion.

- Responsible for oversight of all program intakes and exits from the program.

- Responsible for completing all Regional Center, Department of Rehabilitation, and other funding partners’ intakes.

Community and Employer Engagement

- Manages the annual event recognizing partner employers.

- Coordinates the annual Employer Recognition Breakfast for National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM).

- Attends community functions on a regular basis, with a focus on the geographic areas outside of the main NH campus.

Qualifications

-Associate's degree in rehabilitation, human services or other related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.

- A minimum of three-five years’ experience working with the developmentally disabled adults in a managerial position is preferred.

- Deep understanding of the needs and challenges of individuals with developmental disabilities and/or traumatic brain injuries, with the ability to relate effectively and manage crisis situations.

- Strong organizational skills with the capability to administer and coordinate programs, make decisive actions, and lead effectively.

- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, essential for interacting with staff, members, and the community.

- Alignment with the agency's philosophy, demonstrating respect for the dignity of individuals, and the ability to work cooperatively in a supportive environment.

- Competency in business software applications (Word, Outlook, Excel), with the capacity to learn and utilize additional tools to enhance job efficiency.

- Experience with compliance standards, particularly with bodies like CARF or similar, preferred though not mandatory.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position is $72,000 - $85,000. This is a full time position in Los Angeles, CA. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, retirement savings plan, FSA and others, paid vacation, and 10 paid holidays.
