About this job

The Director of Production will be responsible for production management of an annual portfolio of events including the Person of the Year fundraising gala, mission-based programming, and other live music and fundraising gatherings. Your portfolio of events will range from small to large (2500-person gala), in-person to virtual, and from concerts to panel discussions consistently delivering to the MusiCares brand standards. Roles & responsibilities

  • Work closely alongside Leadership and external production companies to execute annual fundraisers and mission-based events, including Person of the Year gala during GRAMMY Week
  • Responsible for leading internal coordination, aligning project deliverables, and leading execution to produce best in class experience and events
  • Produce mission delivery events independently from start to finish in partnership with the health and human services team
  • Collaborate with revenue team to increase fundraising event revenue by at least $2M
  • Partner with the Finance team to develop, implement and fulfill event budgets
  • Create strategic concepts to execute a Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity rider
  • Identify event requirements and align with the venue for all aspects, including registration, red carpet, cocktail reception, silent auction, backstage space, and production rooms.
  • Identify and manage vendors for creative design, catering, décor, floral, rentals, photography, staging, printing, step and repeat, security, and transportation
  • Ability to negotiate large-scale contracts with vendors, venues, and hotels
  • Create an event experience for all audiences, including honorees, artists, table buyers, and sponsors
  • Partner with sponsorships lead to ensure top-notch execution of sponsor deliverables through the production of brand activations and brand awareness
  • Communicate effectively and align internal teams, including health and human services, marketing, sponsorships, table/ticket sales, finance, and artist relations with external producers, and vendors.
  • Partner with the Recording Academy team to identify areas of mutual benefit in cost savings and revenue generation
  • Oversee deliverables during production including call sheets, schedules, travel itineraries, etc.
  • Coordinate artist clearances as needed
  • Oversee internal event project manager and delegate appropriately
  • Identify temporary or event staffing needs

Qualifications

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree and ten years of professional working experience
  • Experience in the music industry in production
  • Experience with large-scale in-person events (2000+ guests) as well as managing digital/online events using platforms like Zoom
  • Experience developing event budgets from several thousand to multiple millions
  • Experience with sponsored events
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work with a wide range of people
  • Able to seek creative solutions to challenging situations
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Ability to be focused, set priorities, and stay calm and measured in all situations
  • Ability to be flexible and to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • An effective team member, who possesses initiative, creativity, and energy
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented; able to plan strategically, set priorities, focus on details and follow through
