Founded in 2007 by former Ramona Gardens neighborhood resident Maria "Lou" Calanche, Legacy LA's mission is to make positive interventions in the lives of young people by offering alternatives to gangs and violence. Legacy LA builds the capacity of youth to reach their full potential and equips them with tools to transform their lives and community. We do this by addressing the impact of multi-generational gang violence and low educational attainment in Ramona Gardens in Boyle Heights. Our strategies include Dream Big Youth Leadership, Student Success Academic Support Program, and Parent Programming and Supports.

About this job

The Program and Grants Assistant, supervised by the Operations Director, works to preserve the integrity of the day-to-day tasks that help maintain the organization’s good standing and keep it running smoothly and efficiently. The Program and Grants Assistant provides a base level of support for executive and finance staff including acting as reviewer, do-er, and troubleshooter. Guided by Legacy LA’s mission, the Program and Grants Assistant will be highly service-oriented, organized, flexible, efficient, and amicable, with attention to detail, prioritization, and integrity.

Roles & responsibilities

Essential Functions

- Compiling, inputting, and maintaining a range of data and information to facilitate smooth functioning and reporting out on grants

- Support in the facilitation/ensuring that requests for payments are ready for submission

- Recommending ways to improve service and/or refine processes

- Support with maintenance, organization, and improvement of key organizational filing system (Including personnel, finance, and other administrative paper and digital files)

General Administrative Functions

- Assists with special projects, as assigned.

- Follow all established procedures.

- Provides general administrative support to executive team including: processing and expediting correspondence; organizing and scheduling meetings; and updates facility calendars.

- Troubleshooting issues with office equipment and coordinating technology support

- Purchase and tracking of office and maintenance supplies

Qualifications

- One (1) year of program management

- High School Diploma

- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs

- Strong communication and organization skills
