About this job
The Accounting Associate is responsible for providing accounting and analysis support to the Fiscal Officer and business assistance professionals in accordance with the established philosophy, policies, and procedures of ICON CDC. The position is responsible for maintaining, as supervised by the Fiscal Officer, accurate documentation of the agency's financial activity and working collaboratively to prepare monthly financial reporting. Ensures that all documentation is processed and uploaded into the processing portal promptly with a high level of accuracy. The Accounting Associate will directly support the Fiscal Officer, and BusinesSource Center Program Managers to ensure that day-to-day operations function efficiently. This is a full-time position and is eligible for overtime pay as approved.
Roles & responsibilities
Monitor the city grant applicant portal and spreadsheet daily.
Monitor office expenses, disbursements, and invoices.
Contact applicants to obtain personal and financial data and assist in completing applications.
Contact applicants and assist in identifying and uploading pertinent information; examine and verify the accuracy of applications.
Contact customers by mail, telephone, or in person concerning accepting or rejecting applications (communication in Spanish may be required).
Assemble and compile documents for city grant closings, such as tax returns, financial records, application forms, and tax receipts.
File and maintain financial records as directed; deposit, scan, and file incoming checks.
Ensure that accounts payable invoices and expense reports are accurate, suitably coded, and authorized for payment.
Assist in preparing monthly invoicing to ICON’s funding sources
Ensure that necessary information is maintained to ascertain which vendors are subject to 1099 reporting and generate 1099 forms
Assist in agency quarterly and annual audit
Qualifications
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Minimum Education/ Experience: 2 years of Accounting, financial, and or related field knowledge from a two-year college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education/ Experience: Associate's Degree (AA/AS) in accounting or a related field from a two or 4-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Preferred Field of Expertise: 1 or more years of related financial experience.
