About this job

The Program Specialist, Equity, Golden State Education Training and Grant Program (GSETGP) will serve as a member of the Foundation for California Community Colleges (Foundation) Equity department and has responsibility of components of the GSETGP project. Through this project, the Foundation will promote the GSETGP and attract eligible applicants in their respective communities. The Program Specialist will contribute to the design and implementation of a comprehensive strategic outreach plan with specific tactics and resources to reach eligible recipients, providers, and community partners. The tactics include a large peer-to-peer ambassador outreach program, administration of the distribution of grants to partners, development of outreach materials, and oversight of a social media campaign. Under the direction of the Project Manager, Equity (GSEGTP) and in line with the Foundation’s strategic plan, the Specialist’s primary role is to lead specific components of the GSETGP project. The Specialist will be a pivotal position for project implementation, monitoring outcomes, stakeholder engagement, and other activities.

Roles & responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with team members to develop, lead, and support the GSETGP deliverables and initiatives.

• Implement and track progress on project milestones and communicate any changes and resources needed to support implementation to other team members.

• Serve as a subject matter expert for the Equity department and Foundation surrounding the GSETGP project components with an ability to step into meetings with high visibility partners and present to stakeholder groups.

• Develop and retain key stakeholder relationships including college staff, program partners, and funders.

• Develop and implement a strategic plan to increase awareness, knowledge, and capacities of college staff and community partners. This includes providing technical assistance and support statewide through facilitating regional calls with the colleges, identifying, and sharing best practices, and creating connections to other partners and resources.

• Demonstrate initiative and creativity to develop and deliver presentations for students, educational leadership, faculty, administrators, staff, and other partners.

• Responsible for capturing program outreach and activity data, maintaining accurate records of program activities.

Qualifications

• Fundamental knowledge of California Community College System.

• Possess a strong commitment to serving underrepresented student populations.

• Demonstrated writing and presentation skills required (written, presentation, and oral).

• High proficiency of computer applications (Windows, Microsoft Office, and Excel) including word processing, spreadsheets, and record keeping; and general use of personal computers, printers, telephones, Internet, and electronic mail.

• Excellent complex program/project management activities, group facilitation, and technical skills, with an ability to prioritize tasks and deliver quality products within agreed upon timeframes, with limited supervision.

• Passionate about providing students with stronger pathways to education and building a more just and equitable California overall.

• A self-starter and quick learner who is highly motivated and outcome-oriented, always seeking innovative approaches to project execution.

• A strategic and creative thinker who can problem-solve, working within and across teams to swiftly respond to needs identified across the California Community Colleges.

• Practices ownership, takes accountability, and has the ability to project manage, prioritize tasks, and deliver quality products on time with limited supervision.

• Ability to work on a fast-paced team and build and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
