Congresswoman Luz Rivas is an engineer, educator, and public servant who was elected to the House of Representatives in 2025 to represent California’s 29th Congressional District – the first Latina to represent the district and the only Latina in Congress with a STEM background.
For the 119th Congress, Rep. Rivas was elected by her peers to serve in House Democratic Leadership as the Freshman Leadership Representative. In this role, she ensures each freshman member’s voice is heard and represented in the House Democrats’ agenda, and participates in Democratic Leadership meetings. Additionally, Rep. Rivas is a member of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, Congressional Progressive Caucus, and the Democratic Women’s Caucus.
Prior to her election to the House of Representatives, Rep. Rivas served in the California State Assembly and is formerly the Founder of DIY Girls, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping girls become interested in technology and engineering through educational experiences and mentorship.

Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) is seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and reliable District Scheduler/Staff Assistant based in the San Fernando Valley in a full-time capacity.
Ideal candidate must possess time management skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Candidates will be responsible for the Member’s Schedule in the District, including organizing and tracking invitations, speaking engagements and scheduling requests for the Member. Additional district scheduling responsibilities include compiling the Member’s daily briefing materials during District Work Period, as well as record-keeping of the Member’s attendance for various District events and coverage in areas in the District. This position is also responsible for front office/administrative operations, including answering phones, greeting visitors, maintaining reception area and conference room, ordering office supplies, drafting and printing Certificates of Recognition or correspondence and additional duties as assigned. This position will also oversee District projects including the District Office Internship Program and the Congressional Art Competition.
Candidates should have excellent written and oral communications skills, ability to work under pressure and a strong commitment to public service. Ability to work independently as well as a team player. This role regularly interacts with constituents, stakeholders, and visitors and should have a friendly and professional demeanor, as well as an ability to exercise discretion.
This position works closely with the Member, District Director, and DC Scheduler on all scheduling activities in the District. The position requires the flexibility to work long hours, including nights and weekends. Diverse and bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
