About this job

Development Manager (Development/Fundraising) Position Overview:

Common Threads is seeking a highly motivated Development Manager to manage a portfolio of current giving partners and to grow our funder network by earning new foundation, corporate, and government grants.

As the Development Manager, the person in this position will engage in prospect research, outreach, and cultivation of new funding partnerships, as well as steward current relationships primarily across Common Threads’ LA market. The manager will develop engaging relationships with funders, overseeing partner benefits and implementing cause marketing and other special activations as appropriate. In addition to prospect research and relationship management, responsibilities include grant writing, report writing, grant compliance, and record keeping. The Development Manager, with support from the Development Team, may also explore other opportunities for fundraising including regional board development, individual giving, and local events.

This entrepreneurial ‘A-player’ will be an integral part of Common Threads’ national Development Team and will report to the Associate Director of Development based in Chicago. The Development Manager will also work closely with other Development team members, as well as across the organization, including colleagues from Communications, Programs, Research & Evaluation, and Finance.

This role will initially be primarily a remote/work from home position; however, the candidate should be based in Los Angeles and will include occasional in-person meetings and occasional travel to other Common Threads markets, as needed. Common Threads is exploring options for an office space, which may result in the expectation for some working time to be spent in the office. Common Threads offers flexible scheduling when possible, a collegial working environment, and tremendous opportunity for someone to advance in their career as a fundraising professional.
