Job Summary:

A member of the Development & Communications team, the Senior Manager of Development is responsible for engaging a multi-faceted portfolio of foundation and corporate donors. They will develop and write grants, proposals, and reports for foundations and corporations, and manage and grow the organization’s foundation and corporate giving portfolio. The ideal candidate will be resourceful and creative, with the ability to apply ideas, projects, and proposals that relate the impact of Chrysalis’ work to specific target audiences.

Roles & responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities to include but not limited to:

Institutional Giving (65%)

Provide support to meet annual revenue line-item budgets for foundation and corporate giving.

Manage all aspects of proposal submission and grants calendar for personal funder portfolio including creation of initial LOIs, applications/proposals, and required reporting; track and monitor proposals, their deadlines, and requirements, ensuring all submissions and correspondence with foundations and corporations are completed on time.

Along with the Director of Institutional Giving, cultivate and steward relationships with program officers and other key contacts to build visibility, impact, and financial resources for the organization.

Create and regularly update compelling written content to share with funders.

Research and secure new funding streams and manage a diverse and long-term funding prospects; creatively identify new funders based on enhanced and new program initiatives.

Work collaboratively with Program, Data, and Finance staff to compile effective and accurate proposals and reports.

Corporate Support (25%)

Oversee prospect research and pipeline development to increase corporate engagement, including the planning of tailored giving (financial and in-kind) and volunteer opportunities (in collaboration with the Volunteer & Program team), event sponsorships, and other activities throughout the year.

Create and produce corporate partner recruitment and cultivation events and develop and deliver presentations to potential corporate partners and donors. Collaborate with Volunteer & Program team and Chrysalis Young Professionals Advisory Council (YPAC).

Network with appropriate organizations to establish and support organizational presence in the corporate community.

Team Collaboration (10%)

Collaborate with other Development & Communications team members on department goals and initiatives.

Actively participate in weekly, monthly team meetings and other meetings as required.

Work collaboratively with members of the Direct Hire, Volunteer & Program, and External Relations teams to strategically identify goals for new and existing partnerships.

Use Raiser’s Edge/RENXT to track all data related to foundation and corporate donors and gifts.

Performs other duties as assigned in support of the organization’s mission.

Qualifications

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to set and meet goals and deadlines.

Motivated, independent self-starter with demonstrated ability to prioritize and accurately complete multiple tasks and work under deadlines and changing priorities.

At least 3-5 years of grant writing experience and working within a fundraising department.

Knowledge of donor databases; Raiser’s Edge/RENXT preferred.

Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Ability to exercise discretion in establishing and maintaining confidentiality and good working relationships.

Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.

Ability to travel to Chrysalis offices and donor meetings throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties, and the Inland Empire as needed.
