About this organization
California Dance Institute provides unique, high-energy dance classes and performing opportunities (all accompanied by live music) to diverse populations served by the LA Public School system. It is an affiliate of Jacques dāAmboiseās National Dance Institute, which leads the field of arts education with a model program that has been studied and replicated worldwide. CDIās mission is to motivate children to develop a personal standard of excellence by instilling confidence, discipline and focus through the rigor and joy of dance. Moreover, the social development, global awareness, and cultural literacy of our dancers is fostered through these programs. CDI believes that the arts have a unique power to engage all childrenāregardless of background, physical and cognitive challenges, or socio-economic statusāand motivate them toward excellence. Each year, through a combination of in-school residencies and after-school programs, CDI reaches over 1500 children in public schools throughout the Los Angeles area. Since our founding 24 years ago, CDI has transformed the lives of 23,000 children throughout Los Angeles, free of charge.
