Our mission at the Goldhirsh Foundation is to identify the brightest emerging talent and plug them into the tools to best support their success. We fund social innovation efforts across these three areas: opportunity, sustainability, and activation and awareness, with a particular focus on Los Angeles. The internship program will similarly reflect our mission. We invest heavily in our bright, socially-motivated interns through a professional development program while also requiring interns to act as a valuable and participatory assets on our small but mighty team.

Internships are paid. Interns should be able to commit 15-20 hours per week total over the course of 3 days. The ideal start date is as soon as possible, ending in mid December. There is an opportunity for this internship to be extended.

The intern will:

  • Assist in research and writing case studies for the Goldhirsh Foundation

  • Write thoughtful, well-researched blog posts for the Goldhirsh Foundation

  • Assist with social media by curating content for the Goldhirsh Foundation social media outlets

  • Assist with social media by creating both visual and written content to push out to our followers

  • Post social media content on various outlets using Hootsuite and Buffer

  • Assist in the creation of Goldhirsh Foundation newsletter, including researching upcoming opportunities

  • Maintain the jobs board on our website

  • Act as a "thought partner" to the Goldhirsh Foundation team

  • Increase social media outreach

  • Have the opportunity to partake in meetings and contribute ideas


We're looking for the following experience, attributes and style:

  • A student currently enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited university or community college

  • Excellent writing and communication skills

  • An organized individual who is able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and calmly

  • A flexible and enthusiastic approach to work

  • Humility and grace to work effectively with others in a collaborative workplace to tasks large and small

  • Ability to take initiative and produce self-directed work

  • Resourcefulness and high researching ability

  • Proficiency and speed in completing tasks and a high sense of urgency

  • Positive energy and sense of humor

  • An interest in social innovation, philanthropy, and how the two relate to Los Angeles

  • Passionate about the Goldhirsh Foundation mission and be able to clearly articulate our vision
