The Partnership for Los Angeles Schools is a non-profit organization created in 2007 to transform historically under-served schools and serve as a scalable transformation model for Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the State of California, and the nation. The Partnership dramatically accelerates achievement for students in the district’s highest-need schools by operating a network of 19 schools (15,000-student enrollment) in Boyle Heights, South LA, and Watts. The Partnership is one of the largest public school turnaround initiatives in the nation. Since the network was founded, Partnership schools have more than doubled their four-year graduation rate from 36% to 81% and have made gains every year on math and literacy assessments. The Partnership has also been a critical partner to LAUSD as an advocate for better policies and programs for high-need schools across the district. The Senior Associate will be highly visible across the organization and manage a variety of cross-functional projects. The individual will be a key member of the 14-member External Relations team, collaborating with staff in our Development, Policy, and Family & Community Engagement departments. The individual will report to the director of communications.
The Partnership is seeking a Senior Associate of Communications to assist in the implementation of an integrated communications and marketing strategy to strengthen the Partnership’s brand, and to raise its visibility in Los Angeles and in the education sector more broadly. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the organization’s website, contributing regularly to our social media channels, developing communications geared toward our teachers and donors, and updating and disseminating effective messaging to the stakeholders within our network, including home office staff, school-based staff, and the families and students we serve. In addition, this individual will support the development of an influence communications and marketing strategy aimed at increasing the prominence of the Partnership for external stakeholders. Will support Board of Directors meetings and special projects for the chief External Relations officer.
