Working closely with the Chief Development Officer and other development staff the Associate Director of Development will be a key member of agency’s annual campaign. He/she will support and contribute LA Promise Fund’s foundation and corporate development efforts as well as the cultivation of individual donors. Development activities include researching and writing grants to private foundations, corporations and businesses and public agencies; working within Sales Force; cultivating new partners and sponsors and prioritizing funding opportunities; meeting funding reporting requirements; and ensuring the organization’s fulfillment of funded objectives. This position, along with the entire Development and Communications team, under the management of the Chief Development Officer will support the creation of the organization’s strategic fundraising plan. This position will report to the Chief Development Officer, as part of the Development and Communications team, and will work collaboratively with all LA Promise Fund headquarters and school-based staff. The position will support other Development and Communications work as needed, including special events and volunteer management.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Strategic Planning and Prospecting
This position will assist in the creation of the organization’s strategic fundraising plan and support the Chief Development Officer to build upon the fundraising foundation of the organization while diversifying accordingly, being reflective of the economic climate as well as well philanthropic and business trends. Focus will be on local business, corporations and corporate foundations.
The Associate Director of Development will identify and prioritize sponsorship opportunities that will enhance academic achievement student and family support services as well as wrap around services and our countywide programs. He/she will collaborate with the Development and Communications team in integrating collective strategies into annual fundraising plan with monthly goals, prospects, contacts, timelines and action items with a focus on LA based companies, corporations and local business.
The Associate Director of Development will work with the Chief Development Officer to articulate programs and budgets for grant support. They will serve as the department lead on sponsorship and business partnership as well as in-kind donations and support from local companies.
Relationship Management and Stewardship
The Associate Director of Development will provide oversight and accounting for corporate sponsorships, proposals and cause marketing agreements to include calendar of program activities and deliverables. He/she will work with Chief Development Officer on stewarding activities with corporate funders through e-mail and direct mail updates, phone calls, in-person visits and school tours and special events. They will work with the Communication team to acknowledge sponsors in print, online materials, social media and other public forums.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required.
3-5 years of experience in development, preferably in corporate sponsorships and cause marketing
Special event and volunteer management experience highly valued
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience identifying, attracting and retaining corporate funders through a solid account management system and engagement protocol.
Articulate, professional demeanor with strong self-confidence and initiative.
Fluent computer skills including database, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and online communications; Google, Sales Force and Adobe experience a plus.
Ability to work in dynamic, demanding, fast-paced environment. Must be flexible.
Knowledge of public education and experience with K-12 schools is a plus.
