Our mission at the Goldhirsh Foundation is to identify the brightest emerging talent and plug them into the tools to best support their success. We fund social innovation efforts across these three areas: opportunity, sustainability, and activation and awareness, with a particular focus on Los Angeles. The internship program will similarly reflect our mission. We invest heavily in our bright, socially-motivated interns through a professional development program while also requiring interns to act as valuable and participatory assets on our team. 

Internships are paid. Interns should be able to commit 15-25 hours per week total over the course of 3 days. The ideal start date is late summer or early fall. The internship is a minimum 3 month commitment, with opportunity to extend. 

The Design Intern will:  

  • Create visual assets for the Goldhirsh Foundation and LA2050 website, newsletter, and social media accounts 

  • Collaborate with team to support LA2050 campaigns with design solutions 

  • Participate in the production of a yearly report analyzing submissions to the My LA2050 Activation Challenge  

  • Provide consulting on web design for the My LA2050 platform  

  • Assist with additional design tasks, as needed  


We're looking for the following experience, attributes and style: 

  • Understanding of the Goldhirsh Foundation and LA2050 brand and vision, along with a passion for Los Angeles  

  • A student currently enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited university or community college 

  • An organized individual who is able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and calmly 

  • A flexible and enthusiastic approach to work 

  • Humility and grace to work effectively with others in a collaborative workplace on tasks large and small 

  • Ability to take initiative and produce self-directed work 

  • Proficiency and speed in completing tasks and a high sense of urgency 

  • Positive energy and sense of humor 

  • An interest in social innovation, philanthropy, and how the two relate to Los Angeles 

  • Experience working with brands to visually communicate and bring their vision to life  

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator 

  • Comfort with basic social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) 

  • Web design skills a plus  


Professional Development Program 

Outside of regular office interaction, this will include: 

  • Weekly check-ins 

  • Resume, cover letter and interview consultation 

  • Meetings regarding future professional goals
