Position Summary:

A Window Between Worlds (AWBW) seeks an experienced and passionate human resources professional to work cross-departmentally with a team of about 15 to manage AWBW’s human resources policies, programs, and practices that support strong employee relations. This position is also responsible for maintaining safety and transparency with an eye to inclusion, collaboration and empowerment amongst all staff.

 

Key Job Functions:

  • Maintains Personnel Policies and promotes HR best practices, HR regulations, and HR policies and procedures to all staff
  • Works collaboratively with staff to build a more inclusive workplace and incorporate trauma-informed principles into the office environment
  • Maintains a safe, respectful, and non-judgmental space for employees to come to express concerns and grievances
  • Promotes a culture of empathy and ensures a healthy workplace with clear physical, personal and professional boundaries
  • Maintains employee personnel files
  • Maintains employee job descriptions
  • Manages staff evaluation process
  • Maintains employee handbook
  • Manages employee recruitment, hiring, onboarding/offboarding process
  • Assists with monitoring the organization’s wage, salary and benefit structure
  • Assists with benefits enrollments, changes and reporting
  • Ensures maintenance of employee desk manuals
  • Supports office-wide communication structures and practices to ensure clear, respectful, and timely communication
  • Administers bi-weekly payroll
  • Develops and coordinates employee recognition programs
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3+ years of human resources experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills and high emotional intelligence to build trust and maintain effective working relationships
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently and with minimal supervision
  • Up to date on latest human resources laws and best practices
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality
  • Able to maintain a consistent schedule during regular business hours

 

Desired Skills, Experience, Background:

  • Background in the nonprofit sector, experience with human service organizations a plus
  • Knowledge and/or background in trauma-informed care principles and how they can be applied in human resources or a willingness to pioneer applying human resources practices through a trauma-informed lens
  • Experience working towards equity, diversity, cultural responsiveness and inclusion
  • Personable, empathetic
  • Assertive problem solver
  • Background in conflict resolution
  • Demonstrates flexibility and openness to differing viewpoints
  • Payroll processing experience

 

Salary: $22-35,000 per year, depending on experience, type of position (PT or Contract), and time required to fulfill responsibilities.
