Description

Venice Arts is always interested in finding qualified artist-mentors who can assist with our free media arts workshops for low-income youth, ages 8–18. We are looking for volunteers, as well as college students seeking internships for academic credit or work-study.

The Fall session is 12 weeks from September–December and workshops meet once or twice a week for 2 hours after school and on Saturdays. This Fall, the dates will be September 14-December 15. Volunteers will be trained by Venice Arts, and will assist a Lead Artist in our programs in Venice and other locations in Los Angeles. Workshops are taught by a team of artists comprised of a Lead Artist, with background and experience in education, who works collaboratively with artist-mentors. Volunteer artist–mentors are asked to come to their assigned workshop at least 30 minutes before class for preparation, and if feasible, stay after class for 15–30 minutes for cleanup and debriefing. Volunteer artist mentors are welcomed and encouraged to also develop or lead a lesson and present their own work when appropriate, and are asked to closely mentor a designated number of youth in their assigned class.
