Description

Harlem Lacrosse seeks full-time Program Directors to run academic-driven lacrosse programs at inner-city middle schools in Los Angeles. This position is an ideal opportunity for self-motivated, social entrepreneurs with the desire to make a difference.

Founded in 2011, Harlem Lacrosse is an innovative, school-based youth services organization that provides wrap-around support and advocacy to change the educational trajectories of underserved urban youth. A nationally recognized non-profit currently serving nearly 500 boys and girls, Harlem Lacrosse places a full-time staff member at our school sites for each of our programs. Harlem Lacrosse Program Directors maintain a constant presence in the lives of the students we serve. They are tutors, mentors, and coaches who provide individualized attention that meets students where they are and helps them reach their full potential.

Responsibilities for the program director role include:

  • Mentoring and tutoring students during daily study halls at the school;
  • Planning and leading middle school lacrosse practices;
  • Scheduling clinics, games, and weekend events with partner towns and lacrosse clubs;
  • Traveling with the team to clinics, games, and tournaments as well as field trips to professional work environments, educational institutions, museums, cultural or historical sites, and outdoor activities (some overnight travel with the team is required);
  • Keeping in constant dialogue with faculty, staff, and administrators at the school site to monitor student progress;
  • Recruiting volunteers to help with student services and capacity building;
  • Providing secondary school admissions counseling for students in the program;
  • Maintaining donor relationships with individuals, partner towns and institutions;
  • Seeking new sources of funding; and
  • Other administrative duties as needed.

 

Salary: $46,000/year with an opportunity to earn a performance-based bonus.

Start Date: No later than September 1, 2018.
