SUMMARY:  Reporting to the High School Program Director, the Multimedia Internship Coordinator provides training for youth enrolled in the center in DSLR photography, DSLR filmmaking, teaching & leadership to encourage development of skills, creativity, and the pursuit of educational and career achievement.

  1. Program Content

    1. Develop and implement weekly after-school enrichment workshops appropriate to High School youth in photography, filmmaking, etc, including training in industry-standard software. Incorporate peer learning so that High School youth are equipped to teach Middle School workshops.

    2. Support interns by managing middle school behavior problems during workshops and communicate those incidents to designated BAM point person.

    3. Work with Bresee’s Career Development Coordinator to facilitate and schedule career readiness workshops.

  2. Program Development

    1. Assist Bresee’s Volunteer Manager with screening potential volunteers and guest speakers who may assist with courses and workshops.

    2. Work closely with team members to make recommendations for hardware and software purchases.

    3. Develop and implement a two-week summer media internship boot camp, training 10 media interns in fundamental DSLR photography and videography using Canon DSLRs including demonstrations, hands on assignments & work critiques.

  3. Program/Data Management

    1. Recruit, select, and train 10 high school juniors for the youth media internship program (Aug-June).

    2. Work with Teen Tech Center Coordinator to manage Bresee Foundation filmmaking-related inventory used in the media internship (video-editing computer stations, digital cameras, etc).

    3. Manage & record media interns’ weekly hours as directed by HS Program Director.

    4. Work with other internship coordinators on the HS Team to maintain across-the-board standards with Bresee’s other HS internship programs.

  • Participate in team meetings and events, staff meetings, and other Bresee, collaborative partner or community meetings as requested.

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required:

  • Must hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in filmmaking, journalism, photography, and/or multimedia. Master’s of Fine Arts degree a plus.

  • Two years of work experience in a multimedia capacity or two years of teaching experience in providing multimedia computer training.

  • Must provide a portfolio of personal media work including photography & short video production.

  • Demonstrate computer expertise in industry-standard filmmaking programs (i.e. Final Cut X, Adobe Premiere Pro) as well as other multimedia software programs included in the Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • Knowledge of Canon DSLRs.

  • Demonstrate computer competency with Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Google applications and email applications; and database systems.

  • Have experience working with urban youth and families, demonstrate sensitivity to multicultural issues, and be comfortable working in multicultural, urban environment.

  • Must have excellent English verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must have outstanding teamwork, interpersonal relationship, and active listening skills.

  • Must have good organizational and time management skills.

  • Able to set priorities and organize daily workload to meet deadlines, program goals, and requirements.

  • Be highly organized, with attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Able to efficiently process multiple projects at a time without sacrificing the quality of work.

  • Demonstrate flexibility when new assignments or changes are introduced.

  • Able to work independently but also function effectively as part of a team.

  • Able to take initiative with minimal supervision.

  • Able to exercise good judgment, discretion, and confidentiality when interacting with clients.

  • Able to clearly articulate Bresee’s message and program-specific information.

  • Have or be qualified to obtain Class B license; DMV record check and DOT drug/alcohol testing will be required.

  • Must submit to and successfully pass a criminal history background check.

  • Must understand and support Foundation’s Vision, Mission, and Values Statement.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift and carry objects, and drive. Job requires frequent verbal and written communication. Computer, telephone, copier, fax, and camera and video equipment use are required.

WORKING LOCATION: Location is based on a percentage of where work time is spent. In office 90%, out of office 10%. Indoors 80%, outdoors 20%.

HOURS AND BENEFITS: Part-time position (M-F 2-6pm), occasional weekend and evening hours will be necessary. Benefits include vacation, holiday, and sick pay; and 401k type pension plan.
