The Events Manager leads the planning and implementation of our $1 million annual fundraising gala, Dinner With a Cause, as well as additional events supporting the mission and programs of the Downtown Women’s Center (DWC). Reporting to the Chief Development and Communications Officer (CDCO) and working closely with the Director of Development, the Events Manager regularly engages with the Board of Directors, Leadership Council, Volunteer Ambassadors, and individuals hosting third party fundraisers. The Events Manager should have prior experience managing large-scale events and possess excellent communication and decision-making skills.
Serve as the organization’s lead project manager for the Dinner With a Cause, coordinating staff, board members, consultants, and vendors to ensure the successful execution of all tasks related to the event
Execute the vision of the Event Chairs, Honorees, and various stakeholders
Work with the Event Committee to create and execute the timeline, budget, and project plan for Dinner With a Cause
Manages all event budgets, including tracking all Dinner With a Cause income and expenses, and provides regular updates to the Board of Directors and event committee(s)
Effectively communicate relevant project information to CDCO and CEO
Support the Dinner fundraising efforts of board members and senior staff with materials, timelines, and strategies
Coordinate the RFP process, selection, and management of the event production consultant for the Dinner With a Cause
Foster the continued growth and development of the agency’s Leadership Council, a fundraising auxiliary group
Serve as staff liaison to the Leadership Council during the planning and implementation of their annual summer fundraising event
Manage and oversee third party fundraising events and activities; work with the Development Team and volunteers to assign coverage as-needed
Facilitate recruitment, training, and correspondence with DWC’s Volunteer Ambassadors, a group of highly engaged and passionate volunteers who are able to represent DWC at community events and activities
Provide presentations and host tours of DWC to educate supporters on women’s homelessness and DWC’s approach
Supervise interns gaining experience in nonprofit fund development and event planning
Provide staff support to the Board of Directors’ Fund Development Committee and other Board fundraising efforts as needed
Assist with additional activities in support of DWC’s annual Fund Development Plan as needed

Required Education and Experience
Minimum two years of project management experience
Experience in event planning and fundraising
Required Knowledge/Skills/Position Qualifications
A proven history of completing projects on time and within budget
Flexible and able to work in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clear solutions
