America Needs You - California launched in 2016 as ANY’s first Partner Fellows Program site. The California program works with two partners, the Ric and Suzanne Kayne Foundation and ScholarMatch, to provide college students with holistic support through graduation and to careers. America Needs You focuses of the career development and mentorship aspects of the Kayne Scholar experience.
The California team delivers approximately 10 Saturday career development workshops and several additional program events annually to three cohorts of Kayne Scholars (ambitious, first-generation college students) and their Mentor Coaches (accomplished young professionals). The team also builds corporate partner/internship host relationships, works with national staff on curriculum design and development, provides support to Kayne Scholars and recruits a new class of Kayne Scholars and Mentor Coaches each year.
As Program Coordinator, you will serve as a main point of contact for one cohort of Kayne Scholars and Mentor Coaches. You will help Kayne Scholars explore careers, navigate professional and personal challenges, and source and secure internships by counseling Kayne Scholars both directly and in collaboration with their Mentor Coaches and ScholarMatch College Advisors. You will also provide an inspiring learning experience and environment at Saturday workshops and other events. The ideal candidate will have experience providing career advisement to college-aged students or be familiar with recruiting for entry/intern-level positions, will be highly- organized, and will have skills in public speaking, project management, and team/multi partner collaboration.
The ideal candidate will also be excited to work in a startup environment/remote office, be a self-starter, and be energized by the ambiguity and opportunity of joining a new (as of 2016), 3-person team. This role reports directly to the California Program Director and is based in downtown LA’s Arts District.
